After this failed suicide attempt, Chris began his recovery at the Parkwood Treatment Centre run by the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba.Chris has been published in and interviewed by newspapers such as the New Westminster Leader, the Winnipeg Free Press and the Thompson Citizen about his struggle with gambling addiction, and continues to speak to media on the need to reduce the stigma, consequences and risks associated with the illness.

And  what if your marriage falls apart?  Would you be able to keep your home?  Would your retirement plans be jeopardized?  Do you know how to maximize the benefits of a divorce settlement?

  13. SPOUSAL SUPPORT July 27, 2013 CHCH (1:30pm)/CHEK (6:30pm) & July 29 (9pm)

Everyone understands the necessity and importance of parents supporting their children.  But when it comes to paying support to an ex-spouse, many people bitterly object, especially if they've already had to divide their property.  Why does the law provide for spousal support?  In what situations will it be ordered? How is the amount of support calculated?  How long should a person be expected to support an ex-partner?  Is there any obligation for the dependent ex-spouse to support him/herself?  This compelling and controversial topic will be explored in depth by Justice Brownstone and his guests, including a fellow judge.

  15. INFIDELITY August 10, 2013 CHCH (1:30pm)/CHEK (6:30pm) & August 12 (9pm)
With the advent of the internet and social networking websites, it has become easier than ever for people to reach out to each other, even to complete strangers. So it is not surprising that marital infidelity has reached epidemic proportions. Of course, when you find out that your spouse has been unfaithful, you have the option of ending the relationship, and many people do. But not every marriage ends after one spouse discovers that the other has been having an affair. Is there a way to truly forgive an unfaithful partner and keep your marriage alive? Can you ever really trust that person again? Should you? Featuring: David Feder - Social Worker David is the founder My Life After an Affair. Not everyone will choose to stay together after finding out their partner strayed, but according to David, to recover from infidelity both parties have to achieve specific milestones. In David's model, "recovery" begins with the participating partner taking full responsibility for having made the choice to stray and he/she must accept that he/she alone is responsible for making that choice. The participating partner must also end their affair. But it doesn't end there. As a couple both parties have to grieve the loss of their "old" relationship, rebuild the trust that has been lost and together, build a new relationship that meets the needs of both parties. David says, "this will reduce the risk of their being a subsequent betrayal in the future and instead increase the sense of safety in the new monogamous relationship that is formed.
